I also tried resetting the PRAM, which is holding option+control+P+R when first booting and waiting until you hear a second boot chime (or three). Charger was still orange and no charging. Then put the battery back in, followed by the charger. This is to unplug the power cable, take out the battery, hold the power button for 5 seconds. I have several charge cables and none of them was charging the battery. System profile shows that the battery is installed, with 1 cycle count, but it not currently charging when plugged in. If I unplug it, the MacBook will run off of what charge it has. I turn on the MacBook and it shows that it is plugged in, but is not charging the battery. This morning I check and the battery is still only 50% charged as indicated by the green LEDs on the battery. I put it on the charger overnight and when I had plugged the charger in, the MacBook was not powered on, and the charger changed to orange. I have a 2009 White MacBook that I purchased an aftermarket battery for. I know that it's an old MacBook, but I prefer to keep tech out of the landfill if possible. MacBook 5,2 2009 new battery not charging I will post the answer to this because I was able to figure it out, but didn't see this answer on the forum. I can live with using it with the power plugged in all the time, but, if I want to sell it, I'd like the battery to be working, any help would be appreciated. So, I tried a Power Recycle, nothing, then I reset the PRAM, again nothing, next I reset the SMC, and still nothing, so I'm at a loss as to why my system is not recognizing my new battery, could it possibly be the small battery cable (part number: 821-00614-A) that's bad? The laptop works perfect with the power cable, but as soon as you unplug it, it will shut off. Battery not being detected after new battery installed I've replaced the battery in my macbook Pro mid 2017 A1708, when I turn on the system (without power connected) I get a battery icon showing it's not charging, I plugged power/charging cable back in, and it will start up, then I went into the "system report", under "power" in the "battery info" there is no information, other than "0", and "no", so, from there I rebooted the system while holding down the "D" key, ran a diagnostic, and came up with an Erroe code: PPT001, which basically says there's no batter.
